Providing people With Disabilities Accessible Online Banking

Has banking been a challenge to you or someone you know, due to a spinal cord injury or other disability?

As an individual with a spinal cord injury, a family member, friend, or client; you know that living with a disability is challenging and can present many obstacles in maintaining independence. Things that many people take for granted, even online banking, can be significantly problematic.

This is why we at the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Illinois have teamed up with a company called Prime Access. Now for the first time, there is the opportunity to do all banking functions online using the Prime Access downloadable toolbar.

What is Prime Access?

Prime Access is the first fully accessible online banking program designed specifically to eliminate many obstacles people with spinal cord injuries face. Prime Access' patented assistive technology offers many features never available in online banking such as: voice to text, and text to voice recognition, font size and color change options; all on a safe, secure, easy to use website.

Now Prime Access gives you independence and control, over one of the most important and private areas of life - your money. With Prime Access, you can perform many of your financial transactions, including transferring money and paying bills, online in the privacy of your home. You can even apply for a loan or mortgage online!

How do I sign up?

We have aligned ourselves with Prime Access and Bridgeview Bank. Bridgeview Bank is a 30 year old family owned bank with 15 physical branches throughout the Chicago area. it is the first bank in the nation to offer Prime Access' assistive technology. Best of all, the technology is free and you do not have to visit the bank - just the website!

How do I get started?

In order to use this technology, all you need to do is click onto and open an account with Bridgeview Bank on-line. For as little as a $50 deposit, you can open your savings or checking account. your money is safe and 100% secure in an FDIC Insured bank. Prime Access' free toolbar also features an easy to follow tutorial to help you get started. If you would like to use the free toolbar, please click on this logo (below) on the Bridgeview Bank website.

Here is the best part. Not only will you be helping yourself, you might help someone else do their own banking for the first time and for a limited time, Prime Access will donate $10.00 to the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Illinois for every new account opened.

What if I don't have a spinal cord injury and don't need the assistive toolbar? Can I still open up an online account at Bridgeview Bank and support people with spinal cord injuries?

Absolutely. You do not have to use Prime Access' toolbar in order to open an account at Bridgeview Bank, but you do need to open your account online. if you open a bank account with Bridgeview Bank, you will be helping support the association's services.
