Uncommon Grace from Uncommon People

Dear Mr. & Mrs. May,

My Name is Sarah Glover. As owners of United Access I wanted to write this letter about your office in Kansas City. let me give you a little history I guess would be in order.

I came to know your company through Alive. My husband, James, myself and our son Micah were at dinner one evening and Alice purchased our dinner. My son Micah suffered from SMA. We were very surprised when she bought our dinner. More surprising she actually talked to and spoke to Micah. Most people because of his condition would talk to us and ask us questions. Not Alice, she spoke directly to Micah.

I am sorry it is very hard for me to write this. It seemed no matter where I went with Micah, camp, resource fairs, etc. Alice was there. She always made a point to come and speak to Micah. I swear she was everywhere. i am a spokeperson for SMA and I attend several conferences for caretakers and families with disabilities. I can almost guarantee Alice will be there or a representative of United Access will be. We have met Tony at different events and spoken with Janet on the phone. Everyone is always polite. Alice has been helpin us in a search for a van for Micah. She has given us funding sources to contact and recently gave us the information for your donation program.

At a recent conference I asked Alice who I could send a message to about United Access. She gave me your emails along with a few others.

My husband and I have been very impressed with the compassion, caring and genuine feeling of being part of a unique family. you have a very unique company and staff. they are truly passionate about what they do and in helping others. I have listened to Alice and Tony give presentations about assistive technology. Their talks are very passionate and they make it about the person not the disability.

I wanted to let you know how much of an impact Alice had on Micah. He was 9 years old and his face would light up when she would come to ask him how school was. She introduced him and us to wheelchair basketball, softball and even tried to get him to try dancing. It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart to say the Micah passed away 2 weeks ago due to complications from SMA. While his life was cut short it was very full. My husband and I were very surprised when Alice showed the night of visitation to say goodbye to Micah. I don't even know how she heard of his passing. In my grief I never thought to call. With all the doctors, nurses, ot. pt, speech therapy, teachers etc. that we have had to work with Alice was the only one who came to say goodbye.

We want to thank you, Alice and United Access for making the glover family a part of your family. You will always be a part of ours.

Sincerely,
The Glover Family
James, Sarah, Jessica and Micha
