Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland celebrates Parkinson’s Awareness Month

April is many things to different people.  April is a very special month to the Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland…It’s not only the first full month of spring, but it s also Parkinson’s Awareness Month.  April is the month when the first of many fund-raising events and activities for the Foundation are held. The Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland would like to extend an invitation to everyone to participate in all of their upcoming fundraising events including those mentioned below.

On Saturday, April 3, 2010, the Foundation is hosting the BasketBALL Gala at the College Basketball Experience in downtown Kansas City.  The 10th Annual BasketBALL for Parkinson’s Disease is an event that takes place during the NCAA men’s Final Four semi-final basketball games.  Guests enjoy contests, games, hors d’oeuvres and an open bar while watching the basketball games live on giant screen televisions.  There is no better place to watch the games and to experience the feel of the game than the College Basketball Experience and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame at the Sprint Center.  The event is held from 4:00pm – 10:00pm.

On Saturday, April 17th, the Foundation is partnering with the merchants of The Village Shopping Center in Prairie Village, KS, and Brighton Gardens to present Springtime in the Village. This event will include a 5K Run/Walk through beautiful Prairie Village, live entertainment, kids activities, classic car and bike show, and even a parade that afternoon.  The run/walk begins at 8:00am; Car show registration begins at 10:00am; and the parade begins at 1:00pm.

For more information or to register for any of these events, please call the Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland at 913-341-8828.
