Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis is excited to announce the schedule for its 2010 Variety Week, April 17-24. Variety Week was launched in 2004 as a means to maximize awareness and fundraising opportunities to benefit local children with disabilities. The success of this week is key to helping Variety kids, and brings in the majority of the funds needed for the year. All other support comes from private donors and the business community – the organization accepts no government funding.
The week will be packed full of fun, socializing and heart-warming activities. For event tickets or more information, visit www.varietystl.org or call 314-453-0453. This year’s events include:
Variety Parade: On Saturday, April 17, at 10 a.m., hundreds of local children and their families will march down the streets of St. Louis for the seventh annual Variety Parade. This event sets the mood for the rest of the week and will include floats, giant balloons and marching bands. The route will run downtown on Market and Chestnut streets. The parade culminates with a community party featuring children’s activities and snacks at Aloe Plaza across from Union Station. All are welcome.
Runway Lights Fashion Show: On Saturday, April 17, beginning at 10:30 a.m. American Airlines will present the Runway Lights Fashion Show, which will include “The Art of Fashion” presented by Neiman Marcus. Guests will also have the opportunity to explore the “Variety Boutique,” filled with unique silent auction items. Julie Buck of 103.3 KLOU will act as emcee, and jazz artist Denise Thimes will offer a special performance. Tickets are $100 for general admission and $125 for “Business Class” seats.
Imo’s for Kids Day: On Wednesday, April 21, make lunch or dinner quick and easy by ordering Imo’s Pizza. Participating Imo’s franchises have agreed to donate 10 percent of all proceeds from the day to Variety. To help Variety even more, order extra pizza and freeze it for another day!
