How is a vehicle converted for wheelchair accessibility?

Back To FAQ

Answer: A vehicle is converted through a process of removing the interior, lowering the floor and/or raising the roof and adding a ramp or a lift. Then, the technicians replace the seats, floor, etc. back into the vehicle and finally, the exterior is repainted.

Wtach this BraunAbility video for a demonstration of how a van is converted into a wheelchair accessible van.

Vans that are converted must be compliant with stringent ADA requirements. United Access works with only the best manufactures to ensure your van is safe, reliable, and meets the specific needs of the wheelchair user. Our manufacturer partners include ATC, BraunAbility, Revability, VMI and more.
