Each state in the US has a Vocation Rehabilitation program, each of which is an integral part of a statewide workforce development system.
State VR programs offer services to people with disabilities to help them prepare for and find competitive or supported employment. To be eligible, individuals must have a physical or mental impairment that significantly hinders employment and need VR services to work and reach career goals. States may have multiple VR agencies, including one for the blind. Priority is given to those with the most significant disabilities if resources are limited.
State VR agencies also provide pre-employment transition services to potentially eligible students with disabilities and work with employers to increase job opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
