Joseph Badzmierowski, a veteran of the United States Army serves as Director of Field Services (DFS) for Paralyzed Veterans of America’s (PVA) Veterans Benefits Department.  He joined PVA in 1995 as a National Service Officer and refers to his 30-year career with PVA representing veterans as an honor and privilege.  As Director of Field Services, Joseph oversees the operations of PVA’s 72 National Service Offices and staff.  Over his 30-year career working for PVA, he has developed great expertise in VA statutes and regulations governing VA benefits to include, within the Veterans Benefits Administration and Veterans Health Administration, both of which co-administer VA’s Automobile Grant and Automobile Adaptive Equipment Programs.

He holds a Kinesiology degree with a focus on Kinesiotherapy and a minor in Psychology (California State University, 2003), and a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration (2009). With over 21 years at LB VAMC, Mr. Duag serves as lead therapist in the Kinesiotherapy Driver Rehabilitation Clinic. Certified as a Driver Rehab Specialist since 2013, he has helped countless veterans regain driving independence, advising on adaptive equipment and vehicle modifications. Mr. Duag collaborates with veterans organizations, partakes in the VA Driver’s Rehab Workgroup, and teaches at VA Driver Rehab Instructor Training Courses. He frequently presents on driver rehab topics at VA Wheelchair Prescription and Issuance events and at ADED conferences, advocating for greater independence for veterans and patients.

Al Kovach Jr. served in the navy 1988-1991.  As a member of SEAL Team 5, Mr. Kovach broke his neck as a result of a parachuting accident.  Since then, he has held numerous leadership positions in Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA).   In his role as PVA’s national president (2014-2017), Kovach delivered testimony before the U.S. House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees and appeared regularly on local (CA) and national media to discuss key veterans’ issues. As a recognized leader in veteran’s advocacy, Mr. Kovach continues to be a sought-after advisor for civic, community and corporate partners who share his commitment to improving the quality of life for veterans.  Furthermore, Mr. Kovach has had some success in adaptive sports which includes being a two-time winner of the LA Marathon, a member of the 1996 US Paralympic Team, and has completed a 3,700-mile transcontinental triathlon.  Currently, Mr. Kovach is the editor-in-chief for PVA Publications which produces Paraplegia News and Sports ‘N Spokes.

Through dedication and a commitment to excellence, he advanced through various roles, ultimately serving as service manager before being appointed General Manager of the United Access store in San Bernardino.  Jeremiah is passionate about empowering individuals with disabilities, working tirelessly to help customers find tailored mobility solutions that restore their independence and enhance their quality of life.
